Teaching and Learning
The learning and teaching programs at Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School follow the Australian Curriculum in all learning areas.
Religious Education is embedded into our classroom practices and explicit teaching of Religious Education is guided by the 'Journey In Faith’ curriculum.
Specialist subjects taught within the school are STEAM, Visual Art and Physical Education.
This comprehensive approach to teaching and learning provides each student with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to embrace lifelong learning. The curriculum provides academic rigor as well as significant and engaging learning, relevant to each student. The use of critical thinking skills is embedded in our curriculum. There is also a focus on developing communication skills, social skills, research skills and self-management skills.
Ongoing monitoring and assessment is used to guide and inform teaching. A variety of strategies are used to cater to individual learning and developmental needs. Reports, which record the achievement and progress of each student, are issued towards the end of Semester One and Semester Two. Ongoing communication with parents is encouraged through informal and formal meetings and parent/teacher interviews.
